- • If you encounter a bear and it has not noticed you, quietly move away and leave the area

- • If a bear approaches you - Make yourself look big, make loud noises, clap your hands, and continue to back away
| |
| - • NEVER run from a bear – running will trigger a chase response
|
- • Only dispose of trash in serviceable, locking, bear-proof containers or dumpsters
| - • Don’t leave any trash outside
|
- • Remove all items from your vehicles that have any scent that may attract bears (food, beverages, personal care items including lotions, etc.)
| - • Don’t leave beverages, food, wrappers, scraps, pet food, cookie/candy debris, or scented personal items anywhere in vehicle (incl. glove box, trunk, etc.)

- • Hike safely (never alone, make noise, be aware of surroundings)
| - • Don’t allow pets to run around off leash
|
- • Remove all food items/trash after use of pool, firepits, sports courts, grills and community seating areas
|
- • Keep pet food and bowls inside
|
- • Keep your pets on a leash
|
- • Keep doors and windows closed
|
- • Alert neighbors to bear ctivity
|
- • Enjoy nature, including our bears, safely and responsibly
