Memorial Day Weekend at Bear Lake Reserve is always special. We had a wonderful time enjoying the unofficial start of summer with a Celebration at the Amphitheater, a golf tournament benefitting Folds of Honor, a viewing of the original Top Gun under the stars, and much more. We also took some time to honor our nation’s fallen heroes with a Memorial Day Service and Flag Folding. North Carolina State Senator Chuck Edwards even came to visit our community and pay his respects. Check out some of the priceless memories we made throughout the extended weekend:
Celebration at the Amphitheater
We kicked off the weekend on Friday with a lively Celebration at the Amphitheater. Owners and guests gathered to enjoy live music from Matt Stillwell, BBQ from Chef Santiago, Pastries from Chef G, popcorn, snow cones, lawn games, and face painting. It was truly a wonderful party for all ages!
Memorial Day Benefit Golf Tournament
Bear Lake Reserve’s best golfers gathered Saturday at our Nicklaus Design course to compete and raise money for Folds of Honor in our Memorial Day Benefit Golf Tournament. Thank you to all who signed up, and congratulations to our winners:
Mixed Flight – John & Victoria Matheny
Men’s Flight – Dale Elkins & Jimmy Adams
Pickleball Tournament
The friendly competition didn’t end there. We returned to the top of the mountain the next day for a Pickleball Tournament at The Courts. I’d say all our competitors earned a cold one by the pool later that day.
Pool Party
Have you ever been to a pool party so fun that even baby bears wanted to join? We have. The pool and Paddlebacks were packed as we enjoyed drinks, snacks, snow cones, and pool games on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. We even got an impromptu lesson on bear behavior from our Lake Club Director, Brian. Thanks for looking out for us!
